Greek Affairs Mission Statement
Greek Life at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette enriches the college experience by encouraging excellence in academics, social skills, leadership, community service, and personal growth as well as fostering collaboration between Greek organizations. We accomplish this by holding strong to our traditions, educating our members, and living by the values and ideal of our Founders.
Welcome from the President of Greek Council
Welcome to Greek Life at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette. As President I am extremely honored to represent the outstanding Greek community here at UL. With more than 1,000 members who represent 21 Greek organizations, joining a sorority or fraternity can be a life changing experience for every student. Our twenty-one chapters are divided into three councils which are the Interfraternity Council, the College Panhellenic Council and the National Pan-Hellenic Council. Although unique in its origin, history, members, and rituals, each Greek organization on the UL campus holds firmly the common bond of unity and excellence. I hope that you take the opportunity to look into all of the amazing possibilities and experiences our Greek community has to offer.
Greeks are a positive presence around campus and the Greek experience has much to offer students that choose to be part of it:
Academics – Academics is a huge part of Greek life here at UL. Fraternities and sororities perform above the student body GPA, and make extreme efforts to ensure academic excellence.
Philanthropy – Every year fraternities and sororities raise thousands of dollars and spend thousands of community service hours to benefit local, state, national, and international charities.
Leadership – The Greek community is committed to shaping our future leaders through a variety of leadership positions and opportunities.
Involvement – The Greeks at UL are involved! They participate in intramurals, athletics, religious services, student government, social events, and cultural programs.
Unity – Greek life creates many opportunities for chapters to work together and improve relationships between diverse organizations.
Community – The members of the chapters are heavily involved in the community where ever they can lend a hand or make a difference.
I believe the Greek community has invariably shaped the type of leaders we are, and the type of leaders we will become. In whatever future endeavors may arise, we will all be able to fondly look back on our time spent at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and recognize the vital impact that the Greek community played in that experience. Take the time to research Greek life at UL, and come and join the Greek Community. GEAUX GREEK!!!
